The OCS Monitoring server role stores all Call Data Records (CDR) and metrics in a MS SQL database. Microsoft have also supplied some standard reports that run in SQL Reporting Services. The level of detail of the stored data is exceptional and all tables are completely normalised.
The one thing missing is a billing engine or report to cost the CDR against a telco tariff table. Here Microsoft has relied on its partner base to come to the party. Until now the only options available were international products, some in languages other than English, and none of them able to correctly bill according to all the South African telco tariffs.
To address the South African market, Galdon Data collaborated with Datatex to develop an OCS plug-in for their flagship TMS (Telephone Management Software) product TNG (Topaz New Generation). The Datatex suite of products are common place in the South African market and their TMS product has reached full maturity. It is this level of maturity that attracted Galdon Data, a Microsoft Unified Communications Gold Partner and OCS Interoperability specialist, to the TNG product.
With the OCS plug-in installed you are able to leverage all the standard features and reporting of TNG. The OCS plug-in interface can be configured to use either an automated secure query directly into the Monitoring server CDR database or use a manual file import of the CDR information.
